Ayr stages a fantastic beginners’ chase on Wednesday, where DERYHASSEN PADDY (2:50) is fancied to beat Sixmilebridge. Third in the Albert Bartlett, he won’t mind the testing ground and can make a winning start over fences.
And, at Bangor, division one of the novice hurdle can go to local trainer Donald McCain, with two time bumper winner COUNT OF VENDOME (3:00). He looks a sharp type and might have too much speed for Nigel Twiston-Davies’ penalised previous winner in what looks the stronger of the two divisions.
