Championship betting preview

Live on Sky Sports Football: Friday 20:00. Birmingham City v Ipswich Town. Birmingham and Ipswich meet on Friday night to kick off the 2025/26 Championship season. The hosts broke all manner of League One records last term and they’re 6/4 with William Hill to land three points against the outright favourites. Perhaps Kieran McKenna’s side are the value and they can be punted at 9/5 with bet365.

The draw would be a satisfactory outcome for both teams and that’s been chalked up at 21/10 with BoyleSports, while it could be worth having a bang on the 4/5 with Coral that both teams find the net in this contest. A 2-1 win in favour of the Tractor Boys can be punted at 10/1 with bet365.

Live on Sky Sports: Saturday 12:30. Southampton v Wexham. Wrexham make their Championship bow away to Southampton and the Welsh side are rank outsiders to land the spoils at St Mary’s. You can get 19/5 with Ladbrokes that the Red Dragons are able to better one of the teams who were relegated from the Premier League last term. Some will think the Saints are a Saturday lunchtime banker at 7/10 with Betfred.

Should be expect an entertaining clash? Perhaps the visitors will aim to keep things tight under Phil Parkinson and there is 11/4 with Coral that the clash ends all square. Josh Windass is a 9/1 chance with bet365 to break the deadlock for his new team and that could be worth an interest.

Live on Sky Sports Football: Saturday 17:30. Sheffield Utd v Bristol City. Sheffield United narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League a few months ago and they’ll now aim to go one better. Bet365 have 7/10 that the Blades make a winning start against Bristol City, with the latter also having missed out in the play-offs last term. On this basis, perhaps they are value at 17/5 with Ladbrokes for the win.

Gerhard Struber is tasked with following in the footsteps of Liam Manning and you can get 11/4 with BoyleSports that the clash ends all square. However, a Sheffield United win to nil could be the order of the day at 2/1 with Betfred.

Live on Sky Sports Football: Sunday 16:30. Leicester City v Sheffield Wednesday. Sheffield Wednesday could be struggling to field team for Sunday’s clash away to Leicester. William Hill are prepared to offer 16/1 that the cash-strapped Owls are somehow able to claim a victory at the King Power Stadium. The Foxes are no bigger than 1/6 with Coral to get the job done after being relegated from the Premier League.

If you’re looking for a bigger price, then BoyleSports have 8/13 that Leicester lead at half-time and full-time in this encounter. Another potential option could be taking the 3/4 with Bet365 that they are able to secure a victory without conceding.
