Last month’s Cheltenham Festival winner, Chicago Grey, is the 4/1 fav with Coral for Saturday’s Coral Scottish Grand National, following the latest entry stage for the Ayr showpiece. Beshabar, runner-up at Cheltenham behind the favourite, is next at 6/1, with the well-backed The Minack 7/1 (from 9/1) third favourite.
“Last year’s Coral Scottish Grand National was fifth in our list of highest turnover races in 2010 (behind the Grand National, Derby, Gold Cup & Champion Hurdle). As it comes the week after the Grand National this year, we’ll be giving it a real push in all Coral shops across the UK this week, as there will be plenty of people coming in to collect winnings on Ballabriggs and co who may just fancy another National flutter,” said Coral’s David Stevens.
“As far as the betting is concerned, the first two home in last month’s National Hunt Chase proved their liking for a marathon trip and head the market, while The Minack has been well-backed to give his handler Paul Nicholls a win that would surely seal the trainers’ championship,” added Stevens.
