NOVELTY BETTING: James Cameron and Kathryn Bigelow go head to head for two top awards at the Oscars, with leading films Avatar and The Hurt Locker nominated against each other.
Cameron won a hatful of honours for Titanic and is 4/6 at Bet365 to take the best film award with Avatar whilst The Hut Locker is second favourite at 11/8 at Paddy Power.
Meanwhile Coral make Bigelow 8/15 favourite take the best director prize ahead of 5/4 shot Cameron.
“It’s a fascinating match between the ex couple and with both films receiving nine nominations there isn’t a lot to choose between them, we expect the academy to split the top honours between them,” said Coral spokesman Gary Burton.
Jeff Bridges is 1/5 at bet365 to win best actor with George Clooney next in the betting at 4/1. Coral have Sandra Bullock at 8/13 for best actress in another apparent two horse race with Merly Streep, 13/8 Paddy Power.
