Back Oldgrangewood @ 4/1

Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Thursday; Oldgrangewood in the Market Rasen 12:30. Compare odds and bet.

We’ve got some cracking action to look forward to this afternoon, on both sides of the Irish Sea, with both Sir Des Champs and Moyle Park returning from injury over at Thurles.

Well-touted stable-mate Fulham Road goes in the bumper, while impressive bumper winner Myska takes in the mares’ maiden hurdle, so it could be a big day for Willie Mullins.

Domestically, Miles To Memphis catches the eye off an opening mark of 120 at Wincanton. Alan King’s six-year-old looked extremely promising in bumpers the season before last, but proved disappointing last term. Given the time off, you can presume something was amiss and it is hoped he bounces back this winter.

At Market Rasen, Dan Skelton’s impressive Kempton winner Work In Progress looks to regain the winning thread, but faces no easy task off his revised mark, though the trainer can strike earlier courtesy of debutant OLDGRANGEWOOD (12:30).

The opening novices’ hurdle looks a fairly decent event, but the son of Central Park impressed me when winning his Irish point at Lingstown and also from a physical point of view when attending the stable’s Owners’ Day in August.

Charlie Longsdon’s Western Miller won smoothly on his hurdles debut at Carlisle recently and is respected, but has to give the selection 7lbs here and that may prove a tall order. Speredek is another to note in what looks a decent contest on paper.
