After one of the most amazing events in recent years, last week’s USPGA, it is great credit to runner up Jason Dufner that he is lining up in The Wyndham Championship this week and although it may be a huge ask both physically and mentally to once again contend, I really think 55/1 on offer (Sportingbet) is a very decent price.
If you had backed Dufner I would still be working out what went wrong because for so much of Sunday he looked the most likely winner but he will go down in History as the man who let a 5 shot lead in 2011 USPGA slip with just 4 holes to play in a truly remarkable series of events.
It is hard to imagine a decade ago Sky Sports in the UK getting a huge audience past midight for a playoff between Keegan Bradley and Jason Dufner but anyone watching late on Sunday night would certainly not turned off until the conclusion.
David Toms finished a creditable joint 5th on a course he won the PGA Title 10 years ago and is 12/1 market leader this week (Paddy Power) while i like the chances of Kyle Stanley available at 45/1 with . Brendon de Jonge, who quite simply looks a winner in the waiting on the PGA Tour, is a big price at 34/1 with Unibet to do it this week and along with Jason Dufner this trio look value each way against the field.
The Czech Open looks quite a low key affair and Miguel Angel Jiminez heads the market at 18/1 with Betfred.
This looks like a chance for Dane Thorbjorn Olesen, available at 35/1 with bet365, to gain a Maiden European Win, he has played some sensational golf this season and looks a player to keep on the right side of at present.
Chris Wood has always been a golfer of huge potential but it is getting to the stage where he needs to step up to the plate with a win. He is 33/1 with Ladbrokes this week which is great value in a field like this and Wood should contend this week.
Ian Woosnam is 12/1 to win the Scottish Seniors on outskirts of St Andrews at Fairmont this week with Skybet and he along with Sam Torrance and Sandy Lyle should ensure a decent crowd on Scotlands East Coast this weekend. Woosie played with credit in British Seniors at Walton Heath last month and should go well here.
