Trading Talk – England v Switzerland

Live on ITV 1: Sat 16.45: Spread bettors will be buying England on SportingIndex’s win index for their Euro 2012 clash with Switzerland.

England continue their Euro 2012 qualification campaign on Saturday looking to extend their unbeaten start in Group G. Fabio Capello’s side have won three of their opening four group matches and spread buyers of England’s win index will be hoping the side can take another step towards finishing top of their group.

The Swiss have failed to win their past three internationals and their most recent group result was a goalless draw with Bulgaria which will please spread bettors that have bought England’s win index for the Wembley showdown. Further encouragement for England’s spread supporters will be that Ottmar Hitzfeld’s side have not won either of their two road games.

After having won only one match, the Swiss are third in the table, and those spread punters looking to sell the home side’s win index should note that England have won 14 of their 21 matches against Switzerland in the past. England’s 3-1 victory in Basle extended the side’s unbeaten run against Switzerland to 17 matches, which will be welcome news to buyers of England’s win index.

Defensively, England have been very impressive in their opening four qualifiers and buyers of the match supremacy might be interested to learn that the Three Lions have conceded only one goal in the group campaign so far. Capello’s outfit are the leading scorers in the group with nine goals, and the Swiss are the second highest scorers with five.

Total goal spread buyers may have taken note that the past three games between Switzerland and England have all produced at least three goals. The average for the last three games is 3.33 goals and that is good news for those spread punters looking to have a buy of total goals.

Punters looking to spread bet on total goals minutes will be interested in the fact three of the four goals in England’s last win against Switzerland arrived in the second half. The total goal minutes reached 238 that day, while the two previous games accumulated 160 and 180 points.

Stefan Lichtsteiner was shown a red card in the last clash between these national sides and the bookings total reached 65 points, which was the second time in three games between the two countries that a Swiss player has been dismissed. However, sellers could argue that the previous game in 2008 did not produce a single card.

In the first group game against the Swiss, Wayne Rooney opened the scoring in the tenth minute and that will be of great interest to those spread punters looking at the ‘first match goal’ market. England have scored in the seventh and tenth minute in two of their last three outings and the average time of the opener in the Three Lions’ last three games stands at 20 minutes.
