It is hoped that better ground helps SLUGGER (3:50) who ran well at Ayr last month and was just a length behind Dance Thief. Iain Jardine’s five-year-old won a Kelso novice hurdle on decent ground back in the autumn, where he beat the 128-rated Esprit du Potier (won twice since). A keen-going sort, expect him to be delivered late and the hope is that he gets a strong pace to aim at.
