The 2010 Scottish National winner Merigo, and runner-up last year, is now the 7/1 clear 2nd fav with Coral for this year’s edition at Ayr.
Portrait King is also in demand, into 8/1 from 9/1, while Sir Alex Ferguson’s Harry The Viking remains 6/1 market leader.
“Merigo has been the best backed horse this week, which is perhaps not surprising given his record in the race, and at this rate he could well replace Harry The Viking at the head of the betting,” said Coral’s David Stevens.
