Wigan are 7/2 with Coral to make an immediate return to the Premier League next season after their eight-year, top-flight stint came to an end.
Needing a victory at Arsenal to stand any chance of survival, the FA Cup winners eventually went down 4-1 at the Emirates Stadium to slip into the Championship, but the Latics are at least fancied to be competitive in the second tier, Coral quoting them at 10/1 to win the title.
The same firm posts 4/9 against Wigan finishing in the top ten but it looks increasingly likely that they will have to start life in the Championship without manager Roberto Martinez.
Linked with a number of roles, the Spaniard is 1/2 at Coral to start the 2013/14 season somewhere other than the DW Stadium.
“Wigan will be expected to mount a strong challenge in the Championship next season, but it does look likely that they will have to do it under new management,” Coral’s Tim Reynolds told Betrescue.com.
“Roberto Martinez is our 2-1 favourite to take over from David Moyes at Everton plus it’s hard to see the 39-year-old turning down the chance to stay in the Premier League,” added Reynolds.
In the battle for the top four, Arsenal’s victory moves them one point above rivals Tottenham with a game to play. Coral rate the Gunners at 1/3 to qualify for the Champions League, with Spurs a 9/4 chance.
