BLAKENEY POINT (3.40) should give a good account of himself in the Sky Bet Ebor Handicap on the final day at York. Roger Charlton’s gelding has had this as his big summer target and his fourth to classy Mirage Dancer in the Group 3 Glorious Stakes at Goodwood was the ideal stepping stone. First-time blinkers replace the usual cheek-pieces and Jamie Spencer comes in for the mount. Ante-post favourite Stratum has sneaked in at the bottom of the handicap and must go close for Willie Mullins.

MAKING MIRACLES (2.25) ran a belter over course and distance at the Dante fixture when pipped by stablemate Baghdad and has been running consistently well all season. Mark Johnston’s gelding ran third to Soto Sizzler and Corgi at Goodwood and previously never looked like getting caught over 1m 6f at Haydock when spread-eagling his rivals early in the straight. This is one of the toughest and most interesting handicaps of the week and if all 16 declared go to post Making Miracles looks a solid each-way option.

EXPERT EYE (3.00) is a worthy market leader in the Group 3 City of York Stakes. The Stoute-trained colt found Lightning Spear just too strong in the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood but had earlier annihilated the opposition in the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot over his specialist 7f trip.

Look Around, a daughter of the outstanding Kingman, came home unchallenged at Sandown when last spotted in July and looks a big price in the Ladbrokes Prestige Stakes at Goodwood. However, the Queen’s MAGNETIC CHARM (2.40) steps up in class after beating Winter Light in a fillies’ maiden at Newbury 18 days ago, with the runner-up scoring easily at Brighton earlier this week. She is open to more improvement.

With 20 runners declared for the 7f handicap it’s a bit of a minefield for punters but VALE OF KENT (3.15) runs the track so well he is a must for the shortlist. The in-form three-year-old finished first and second when stripped for action twice at the Qatar Goodwood Festival and stall four is a superb pitch for a free-running horse that likes to attack from the gate.
